Hemp flower

Cannabis sativa traces its aromatic history to Central Asia, where archaeological evidence places its use in ceremonial incense as early as 4000 BCE. Ancient Persian cultures burning cannabis as temple incense influenced Greek and Roman perfumers, who incorporated ground flowers into their aromatic preparations. The plant spread along Silk Road trade routes, reaching China by 2000 BCE and eventually the Mediterranean. Despite centuries of aromatic use, Western perfumery largely abandoned cannabis after alcohol-based fragrance production became dominant in the 18th century. Only recently, with advances in selective cultivation and extraction technology, has hemp flower re-emerged as a fragrance material with legitimate commercial applications and regulatory compliance in most jurisdictions worldwide.
