The Artisan
The Story of Olivier Creed, Pierre Bourdon
Born in Nice during the Italian occupation of WWII, Olivier Creed inherited the family perfume house as its sixth-generation heir. Rather than confine himself to perfumery alone, he studied art and painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He took charge of the family business at 18, shifting Creed's focus heavily toward fragrance and transforming it from a boutique tailoring house into a globally recognised luxury brand. Today, he works alongside his son Erwin Creed, creating fragrances at their factory in Fontainebleau.
Philosophy
Creed approaches fragrance as wearable art, drawing a direct line between painting and perfumery. His palette consists of the world's most noble raw materials, which he considers his birthright as a sixth-generation perfumer. He has described his aim as creating scents that endure beyond trends, blending classical elegance with contemporary sensibility.
Creative Approach
Creed favours noble raw materials and classical construction, favouring fresh, elegant compositions that balance tradition with modern appeal. His fragrances tend toward timelessness rather than novelty, with a focus on refinement and longevity. The house emphasises artisanal methods and heritage techniques, reflecting his belief that true luxury cannot be rushed.
