The Story
Why it exists.
The name says it twice. Smoking Hot is By Kilian's 2023 entry into the Smokes Collection, a house that has made smoke its signature subject, explored from every angle. Here, the hookah lounge gets its due. Shisha tobacco, apple, and cinnamon form the opening, that sweet, slightly fruity smoke that belongs to hookah lounges from Marrakech to Berlin. Mathieu Nardin built the composition around the tension between that bright, Eastern smoke and the weightier presence of Kentucky tobacco absolute.

The Beginning
The name says it twice. Smoking Hot is By Kilian's 2023 entry into the Smokes Collection, a house that has made smoke its signature subject, explored from every angle. Here, the hookah lounge gets its due. Shisha tobacco, apple, and cinnamon form the opening, that sweet, slightly fruity smoke that belongs to hookah lounges from Marrakech to Berlin. Mathieu Nardin built the composition around the tension between that bright, Eastern smoke and the weightier presence of Kentucky tobacco absolute.
Kentucky tobacco absolute is dense, almost tar-dark in its depth. Pairing it with shisha apple creates something rare: a bridge between two smoking traditions. The fruity sweetness of Eastern hookah lounges meets the bold, fire-cured depth of American tobacco. By grounding the hookah note in something heavier, the fragrance moves from pleasant to committed. Oakmoss keeps the sweetness honest. Bourbon vanilla rounds it out. This is smoky-sweet that actually earns its smoke.
The Evolution
The opening announces itself immediately. Apple and cinnamon hit first, that hookah lounge sweetness, bright and almost cidery, with spice threading through. Within minutes, the Kentucky tobacco starts to take over. The sweetness doesn't disappear. It deepens. The apple becomes almost caramel-adjacent as the smoke builds weight. By the heart, the tobacco has fully arrived, dark, resinous, with the oakmoss keeping everything grounded. The drydown is where it softens. Bourbon vanilla and that amplified smoky depth settle into something warm and intimate. Tobacco cream. Balsamic warmth. The longevity is real, this one lingers close to the skin for hours after the initial projection fades.
Cultural Impact
Designed as an evening scent, but the longevity means it plays longer. The opening projection is strong, exactly the kind of presence that gets noticed and asked about. By the drydown, it becomes intimate. Office settings depend on timing: the first few hours pack sillage strong enough to fill a room, while the later hours stay close and personal.

Smoking Hot sounds like a late-night hookah lounge, warm, smoky, with something sweet underneath. Smoky jazz, slow-building atmosphere, voices carrying across a dimly lit room.
