The Story
Why it exists.
Club des Hashischins was born from an 1844 Parisian secret society’s recipe, a blend of hashish‑infused coffee and dawamesk. In 2017 Sharra Lamoureaux re‑imagined that historic formula for Alkemia, translating the smoky lounge ritual into a vegan, cruelty‑free perfume. The fragrance honors the original’s orange peel, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, nutmeg and kola nuts, while adding African bronze honey, blackberry pipe tobacco and leathered labdanum to create a modern, intoxicating composition.

The Beginning
Club des Hashischins was born from an 1844 Parisian secret society’s recipe, a blend of hashish‑infused coffee and dawamesk. In 2017 Sharra Lamoureaux re‑imagined that historic formula for Alkemia, translating the smoky lounge ritual into a vegan, cruelty‑free perfume. The fragrance honors the original’s orange peel, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, nutmeg and kola nuts, while adding African bronze honey, blackberry pipe tobacco and leathered labdanum to create a modern, intoxicating composition.
Combining coffee’s bitter depth with oud’s resinous heart creates a rare juxtaposition of bright and dark, echoing the club’s dual nature of refined conversation and illicit indulgence. The African bronze honey softens the spice, while the blackberry adds a fleeting fruitiness that prevents the blend from becoming overly heavy. Leathered labdanum anchors the drydown, giving the scent a timeless, smoky finish that feels both historic and contemporary.
The Evolution
At first spray, coffee erupts like a freshly ground brew, instantly mingling with sharp orange zest and a spice quartet of cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Within minutes the initial buzz softens as agarwood (oud) emerges, its woody resin intertwining with pipe tobacco’s smoky sweetness and honey’s golden glide, while blackberry injects a juicy contrast. As the perfume settles, the base of leather‑kissed labdanum rises, supported by smooth musk, leaving an animalic whisper that lingers on skin for the remainder of the day, a quiet reminder of the 19th‑century gathering.
Cultural Impact
Since its 2017 release, Club des Hashischins has become a cult favorite among indie‑fragrance collectors drawn to its historic hashish‑coffee narrative. The limited‑reserve label and daring ingredient list sparked lively discussion on niche forums, positioning the scent as a conversation‑starter that bridges 19th‑century Parisian intrigue with modern vegan perfumery.
