Wanted by Night.

Wanted by Night was created by Quentin Bisch and Michel Girard as an evening counterpoint to Azzaro's 2016 daytime original. The brief: capture what happens when the lights go down and someone decides to stay. The inspiration pulls from the hedonistic lifestyle of Loris Azzaro during the 1970s, bold confidence, pleasure unapologetic. The bottle design, a cylinder with a chrome-plated cap featuring an elegant dark smoky lacquer, signals the shift into something more nocturnal. More deliberate.

Cinnamon, red cedar, and tobacco form the three pillars that structure everything else. The citrus up top isn't a freshness accord here. It's more like the spark before the warmth arrives. These three notes weave throughout the composition, each asserting its presence at different moments. Red cedar provides a steady presence, preventing the vanilla from becoming too soft while maintaining its own aromatic weight. Incense darkens the middle, giving the heart a shadowy quality without drawing attention to itself.

The opening announces itself immediately: cinnamon's heat, mandarin's tart brightness, a touch of lemon cutting through. Lavender adds an aromatic coolness, like stepping into a room where candles have already been lit. The heart shifts. Incense smoke rises, mingling with cumin's warmth. Red cedar has taken over completely. Fruity notes bloom underneath, unexpected and slightly sweet. By the drydown, tobacco and vanilla arrive together, rich but restrained, never cloying. Leather, benzoin, and patchouli ground the base with earth and resin. Iso E Super and cypress extend everything for hours, lingering on the skin long after the initial application. The scent unfolds in layers, each stage revealing new facets while maintaining the warmth established in the opening. What begins as bright and spicy settles into something deeper, spicier, and increasingly intimate as the hours pass.

The Wanted collection marked a visual departure for Azzaro, a cylinder bottle that broke from traditional fragrance design. Wanted by Night, as the evening edition to 2016's original, extends the collection into nocturnal territory. The bottle's architectural lines and bold presence make it a statement piece on any dresser. Azzaro's heritage of sensuality and confidence runs through every aspect of the fragrance, from the spicy opening to the warm, lingering drydown.
